2k8 on the way

Happy New Year's, fellas. :) Technically that's a bit early, but I bet in places like Australia it's only a matter of hours for them now. Hours for us too...sorta. Yeah, you get my point. I haven't gone too many places the past few days, mainly because I haven't been feeling too great and was a bit sick. Everybody seems to be sick though. I spent a lot of time reading instead. Finished two books, working on starting a third. I missed that feeling of having a stack of fresh novels home and being able to get lost into them and binge-read. xD With school keeping me busy on most nights, I lose time to read like that. The first book I read was about a girl named Remy and her summer between senior year ending and before she left for college. I liked it a alot, even though the ending left things dangling, which I actually sort of like. The second I finished today was about a girl with an eating disorder and whose father died. It was interesting and cute, yet short. The third one is about a teenage girl who apparently has died but the reader reads from her point of view of her seeing how her friends, family, and boy act with her gone. Sounds very different and one I can't wait to get into. ;)
My friend came over to my house Friday and we showed each other our new gifts. It was nice to have her over. Most of the time was spent on my laptop with me adding over 100 songs to her new mp3 player. Even though it was only 1GB, it held a lot more than I thought, and she still has plenty of extra room. Perfect for her. Green colored too, her fav! :P
I think it's time I give a quick kitty update. My cat, Cyber, is really starting to adjust and I've been around him enough to really pick up on his personality. Throughout the day he has moments lasting a good hour or more where he is extremely active. He'll run and jump from couch to couch, scratching his way up things and down others. He'll follow people around and sort of, I don't know, like knaw on your ankle or scratch at it playfully or something. Once that phase wears off he finds a comfortable spot to lay and sleeps for a bit. Once he wakes up he is incredibly calm, sweet, and gentle. This is the best time to pick him up and cuddle him. He likes to pet your chin with his paw if you stare at him a while, or lick your fingertips. It's really cute actually. I have to say I thoroughly enjoy having a cat. After all these years of wanting one, I wasn't let down. Hopefully I can always have a dog and a cat that live with me. It's lovely, to say the least! :)
Moving on... [haha ironic, the song playing off the radio just sang that same lyric.] My plans for New Years are to spend it yet again with my dearest girls, Abby and Nicole. We're all looking forward to it so it should be a real good time. :) I plan to bring my new camera, my phone, everything. I hope I can snap some hot pics of us dancing our butts off, since that's the plan. I think we're going to be dancing to "Pump it up" by Joe Budden. Which if we do, it's a pretty pumped dancing song, haha. I can't waittt. Some late night paper routing in C-dale might also be involved...just have to wait and see! Pretty funny to think that the first thing I do in 2008 might be riding around in a small car delivering newspapers at 2am with a paper route song cassette sung by Abby is blasting and the car does doughnuts in an empty lot as I sit in the middle and have my two best friends scream& squish me to pieces. Ahh, that's the life, hahaha. =)
I have a big urge to mention you know who again in my blog, because I had some pretty adorable dream about him last night, woke up with his voice in my iPod, and got a new poster of him today. Obsessed? Barely. :P I don't know what in the world it is about me lately. I was 10, 12, 14 years old, whatever. I never had such a crush on a movie star, music star, nobody. Neverrrrr. And isn't that the teeny bopper age time for that to occur?! Haha, I told you people, I am a late bloomer in every possible way. xD So I am going to be 17, and I have the biggest crush in the world on, yep, a movie star. =P It is fun to have this crush though. Mostly all my friends know by now how this has developed and grown, and they tease me and play along like he's going to be my boyfriend someday. Aw but my dream was really cute, like cute in a 10-year old's first crush kind of way. [Maybe I'm regressing? :P] Anyway, I'm already this far into it so I may as well share it. [You can stop reading if you want.. :P] All I remember is that it was snowing and everybody from school was at this park, Ze [I'll use Ze for these purposes] and I included. The middle is a bit fuzzy, but of course I remember the end as it was the best part. It was like a field trip maybe, and I was with my friends and other people until I saw Ze and he waved me over and smiled. I proceeded to run off with him and man, I wish I could remember whatever was going on, but I guess something bad/scary did because everyone was running to get back on the school buses before they pulled away. Ze and I were kneeling behind a brick behind, like sort of hiding, and peeking around at everyone else running. [So weirdddd but really cute too!] He kept telling me to stay calm and everything would be alright because he was there. All I remember is the foggy breath coming out of his mouth when he said that [because it was cold and snowy], and his face was so close to mine his cheek was brushing against mine even though both of us faced forward. Then all I remember next is getting on the bus late, out of breathe, and just jumping in the first seat, crouching down in and breathing really heavy, my cheeks flushed red and my heart pounding. Then the bus started to move and I look out the window and saw Ze standing there again, shyly smiling at me maybe? Then I woke up I guess. It was cute and the most unrealistic dream ever. It certainly was just a DREAM. xD But aw, so cute. :)
-snaps back to reality- lalalala. I don't want to go to bed just yet [even though I took some medicine..hasn't drowzied me out yet] so I'm going to again take a quick dash down memory lane 2007. I'm going to pull up my last entry from last New Years for old times sake. This blog is wonderful. It really is. It holds so much for more than one person. I love writing here. I'm not sure what it is, but I've had journals/blogs elsewhere, yet there is something about "Buddy Foote's" that makes it all the more worthwhile and enjoyable. :)
Skimming through my last entry of last year, I wrote about a lot of firsts that had happened to me. This year there was not too many things I'd call "firsts". The biggest exception being my going to Warped Tour and meeting Family Force 5. ;) That will probably be one of my favorite memories of 2007. I'm surprised I don't have a whole lot to say on 2007. It was a nice year overall, no complaints. I guess I'm just feeling excited more so for 2008, which can't be a bad thing, right? Man, it's hard to know that 2009 is really close, my graduation year. Every year I always just hope that the upcoming year will be even better than the last!

Happy Holidays '07

Merry day after Christmas! =) Hi everyone. Blog's been pretty active these last few days, that's great! Well, I just went to login on World of Warcraft when I got the message my prepaid time of playing was up. :( No more free trial. No more WoW. I was hoping after today it'd be up, not actually ON the 26th. :P I didn't get to play yesterday because Christmas is a busy day. However, I did play a lot the day before. My troll shaman creature raised a level, and I died 5 times finishing these two hard quests. I wanted to finish them, and I figured I'd keep trying and die each step I took getting closer. xD Got annoying after awhile..but I finished them! :P That probably wasn't the smartest way to go after finishing a quest, but now I am a little sad my time is up. It was a pretty fun game, had a nice adventure quality attached to it which I liked. :] I liked the scenery too but I wasn't really addicted to it or anything, and not sure it'd be worth it to me paying and playing again. I'm glad I got to try it out though! =)
I had a very nice Christmas, I really did. I think it was even a little bit better than I anticipated. On Christmas Eve I was losing some holiday spirit for a little time [not sure why] but then it returned. :) Yesterday was a good day. I wish it had lasted a little longer.. [because today is just totally downhill around here =/]. Anyway I suppose I could list the gifts Santa brought me as that is probably what would interest most readers. ;] Actually no. First I have to mention that I always feel like I don't deserve all the things I get because really, maybe I don't realize it all the time but I'm extremely lucky. I have a friend or two who just make it by well enough. I was talking to one yesterday and I felt a twinge inside telling her the expensive electronics I got when I know she's been wanting a working cellphone for years. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is that I am reaaaaallly very thankful. Really. I am. =) Times a lot. ♥ :) :)
Now I just can't keep my excitement hidden any longer! I got a digital camera, iJam, cellphone, HSM2 DVD, makeup, some clothes/socks, pen, watch, and $175 all for Christmas. ;D Ah! Ah! Two big surprises were the camera and cellphone! A few weeks back when I was asked what I wanted, I explained how"my iHome is broken, I love High School Musical 2 and Zac Efron, I sorta want to pick out this makeup thing, and maybe not now, but for my birthday, I'd love to have my own camera to snapshot future events." That was pretty much my exact words. And that was all I said. ;) So I was certainly surprised in a number of areas! First off, the cellphone!? Omg? Um. :P I don't know where that came from. I never asked for a cellphone ever because I don't like phones that much even though I get called regularly for homework help or chitchat [which I love, don't get me wrong], and I still have this shy problem of dialing someone else first and waiting for them to pick-up. [Lol, this sounds silly but really, I can get like nervous or something? -shrugs-] and I figured what do I need with a cellphone? My parents felt it a great idea to buy both my brother and I new cellphones so we'd have them for emergencies and rides and all that stuff. And well, alright, lately I've been using other people's phones when I'm somewhere more often so I guess it will be useful there. ;) I was reallly surprised though. Chase and I were opening it at the same time, unaware, but he beat me to it and I saw the cellphone box and said aloud "OH MY GOSH! WHAT!?" and tore the paper off like crazy to see my own cellphone box but a totally different kind than his. I was honestly just so surprised! I guess I felt it came out of nowhere and usually I have an inkling as to what may be hidden for me, but a phone huh? Niiice. =) I really do like it though. I love the teal color, and I like that it's different looking than all the other cellphones because it's a Juke. [I'll show pictures in a second.] I set it up yesterday and while writing this entry it rang for me and was my friend so how exciting huh!? =) Haha, I have to say it does make me feel excited and more grown-up if you will. ;P I think it will come in handy too and will give my home phone a rest. ;] Now here you have some pictures of it and my other gifts below [not taken with my digital camera yet, sorry :P]. It flips out and up to be completely open, but it doesn't have to be flipped open to answer the phone. It has a camera on it too, and a music player. I added like .3 of a GB of songs to it yesterday to see what it was like, pretty cool! :) [Click for larger views of all pictures]. ;)

Now here is what my digital camera looks like:

And here is my iJam:

And hey, I couldn't resist posting my favorite movie DVD while I was at it! :) I watched it last night, bonus features and all. As a result I had three dreams of Troy. -sigh- I'm helpless. xD But it's such a sweet movie, aw. :P

I hope everyone else had and are having a wonderful holiday! =) ♥

Have A Merry Christmas

Yes, it's Christmas Eve soon to be Christmas Day in less than twenty minutes, and I have the flu. It's only a minor version of the flu, thank God, but still, it stinks. Every new day presented a new sickness as the sickness from the previous day no longer existed. I don't want to know what I'll have tomorrow when I wake up. I swear if it's a sore neck, I'm done in for the day. Sore necks just ruin my day. I would rather take a migraine headache than have to deal with a sore neck. And when your neck hurts and you hold it in a position for an x amount of time and you then obtain a stiff neck -- then it's the end of the world. Anyway, I have been sick since Friday with a variety of symptoms. And yes, that means I wrote "The UPS Men: Part 1" while I was sick. I swear I have more motivation when I'm sick because I'm handicap from doing much so I use whatever resources I have available. Therefore I grabbed my laptop, opened up Microsoft Works, and typed my heart out. The story required no brainstorming or thought. Everything was impromptu from the top of my head, and that's my writing style. However whenever I write the first part of something, then I'm stuck. Why? Well if the first part is good, I can't throw in stinky sections of the story afterwards, and plus I need to make sure it follows the plot which isn't even established yet. I think I may make it like a soap opera -- it goes on for forty years with no plot whatsoever.
I got back my laptop a few days ago after it was gone for about one to two months. If you aren't aware of what occurred, my laptop received a series of viruses and trojains after I downloaded malicious software. It was a wrong move in my part, and a rather costly move. And no, I didn't see a file that said "Iareavirus.exe" and said, "Oh wow, I better download this file!" I was misled. My advice: When looking for something to download and you're using Google to search for it, never go past page two. Everything afterwards is bad, very bad. Anyway, we get it back and it's not fixed. Yep, the guy who was "repairing" it took that long, more than one hundred dollars as far as I know, and he hands back a laptop still filled with viruses and says, "Just do a system restore." Okay, you had the damn thing forever, we forked over the money, and you did nothing. The least you could do is do the damn system restore for us! And guess what? There's still something wrong. When we did the system restore, it didn't get rid of the files on the hard drive. The computer broke when I had about 17-20 GB of free space out of 49 GB. Well, after we did the system restore and I installed World of Warcraft, AIM, and Google Talk, I look and it says '7 GB of free space'. I was about to flip. 7 GB wouldn't last me more than a month if I went back to my old habits of trying something new every week. For example, do RPG Maker XP one week, then the next I would play Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, etc. I don't know -- maybe I'll have a surprise under the Christmas tree to make up for it. The only probably is that I slept from 5 to 9 so I have a lot of energy until my juices run low.
Onto another topic -- Lakeland Study Buddy, the forum/message board that I created as a homework help resource for my class at Lakeland High School in Jermyn, PA, is currently down. It has been down for about two days now and I'm a bit concerned. The problem: My MySQL host, db4free.net, is down. And being that it's a free MySQL host, I don't know if it'll ever be back up. The guy who runs it (I saw his blog so I think it's only one guy who owns the server) doesn't have to support any customers as he's running the service out of the good of his heart, so he doesn't have to put it back online. If the server never goes back up, then LSB dies and another good idea from Buddy Foote goes out the window. I swear, this was the first forum I ever made where I had many active members and it just goes bye-bye that fast. If it's not back up by Wednesday or Thursday, I'm going to e-mail the owner of the server asking what's going on. I knew I should have purchased that host...
I'm going to end this entry at that note then. Just another one of my random, personal rant entries. Right before Christmas like I promised, even though it's Christmas Day right now at 12:18 A.M. Oh boy, I hear Santa up on the roof! Better get to bed!
Have a good one.

The UPS Men: Part 1

Part 1
Dear Diary,
It all began on a Wednesday in the winter. The month, the year, the time; it all doesn’t matter to me. What does matter, however, is the event that happened this day. It changed my life and the life of others around the world. This event was the reason why I couldn’t write within your pages, rich with the lore of my life. The ivory pages bleeding with lust and wealth of my many experiences. No experience, however, matched the wrath of this one.
I woke up that morning to find my house was freezing. I looked into the darkness around me and noticed that not a single light came jumping out at me. My alarm clock, cell phone charger, desktop, and other electronic belongings were all plugged in, but none of them showed me their welcoming flashing. Odd, I thought. I ventured downstairs with the blindfold of the night over my eyes and opened up the front door. I was amazed to see darkness. Pure raven darkness. I pulled my pajamas around me as the wind blasted me from the west and looked at the digital watch that was on my wrist. This too was even not working. I looked up and down the street. Every house was black. Every streetlight was black. Or was the object that I was looking at a streetlight? No, it was darkness. And then, light. It came from the sky so fast that I didn’t realize what it was until seconds after it had struck. It came nowhere within my neighborhood, or rather should I even say, hundreds of miles around me, but still this object flashed through the universe and hit the ground far, far away. And yet, the light of the aftermath reached my awaiting pupils.
I think, diary, that you should know what happened that day and the days, weeks, and months afterwards, but you were locked inside of a fleeing suitcase. I hugged you tightly, however, you did not know, as the leather cage you were in left you blind to the world. You didn’t know of the plague that killed millions. You didn’t know of the blood seen everywhere -- flowing through the air, riding on the drifts; the same drifts that hit me from the west that night. The night that started the . . .
“It’s your turn.”
“Huh?”
“I delivered the last few packages while you sat over there drawing pictures in that book. The least you can do is deliver a couple.”
“I wasn’t drawing pictures, but rather painting words.”
“That’s good. Now get off of your lazy ass, grab that package over there that’s going to 455 Red Oak Street, and hop to it.”
“If you delivered a few already, it won’t hurt you to deliver a few more. Now will it?”
“And it wouldn’t hurt you to exercise a bit and lose some weight?”
“Fine, I’ll do it if you let me finish up this diary entry later on.”
“If you let me read it when you’re done.”
The glare was cold, filled with hatred and expressing total irritation. The glare was directed at the driver of the truck. A 28-year old short for his age, with neatly cut black hair, a lean figure, and wielding the brown armor that titled him as a UPS deliveryman. The man was known as Corey. At his side was his sidekick. A 27-year old man who too had short hair, however brown in color, and a bit bigger figure than Corey. He too had equipped the UPS uniform and wore it not with pride, but rather in disgust. This man, poetic in nature, was Kyle.
Corey greeted the glare with a smirk. “Nevermind, I don’t want to read any of your crap anyway. I bet it’s just stories about the exotic things that you do with your wife.”
Kyle slipped the small booklet into the pocket of his uniform. “Corey, I bet if you read anything concerning that, you’d be confused about what was going on.” Kyle looked for the package addressed to the house they pulled up to, found it, and hopped out of the truck as Corey grumbled swears to himself.
Kyle looked down at the package he was carrying under his arm as he walked across the lawn to the front porch of the house. It wasn’t a big box. It was almost a perfect cube. Kyle shook it a little and received no noise in return. I can’t guess what this one is, Kyle thought.
Kyle walked up onto the porch. The porch was painted red, however the paint was beginning to peel and the former paint job, a pale blue, began to show. The porch was small, yet congested with random objects piled on top of one another. A basketball pump was placed on top of a box that once hosted a trampoline, and that box was placed on top of a large wooden crate marked ‘Bananas’, and the crate was placed on top of small stool that had writing etched into the polished wood. Kyle put down the box he was carrying by the white front door, and walked over to the miniature junkyard. He pushed a beach ball out of the way, tripped over a pogo stick, and climbed over fence railing laid across the width of the porch, and kneeled in front of the stool. He observed the writing, some of it was worn away by the elements of nature, however some stood out to him as if they were engraved only minutes ago. He noticed phrases such as “I cannot receive help if the world needs to be helped” and “War is not the answer. It’s a question.”. Kyle noticed dried droplets of blood over writing that said “I may be free from war, but I shall sacrifice my blood as many men and women sacrifice theirs.” Not only writing dominated the stool, but also symbols. A symbol that stood out to Kyle was an orb with lines extending out from it, showing that this orb was either shiny or bright. Kyle also noticed the face of a person, gender unknown, that had only half of a mouth, one nostril, and no eyes. The sight frightened him. He was about to look on the opposite side of the stool when . . .
“May I help you?”
Kyle flew upright, almost knocking the pile he was underneath over, and turned around. There in front of him stood an old woman, bald with age, toothless, and legendary in appearance. She wore a green robe, no shoes, and black leather gloves. She gave him a slight smile, and he returned a face of sudden shock.
“Young man, may I ask again. May I help you?”
“Um, sorry.” Kyle responded, trying to work his way out of the pile that littered the porch. “I just wanted to see what type of trampoline that was. Yes, the box over there. My son wanted one and I couldn‘t decide what model to get. Would you recommend that one?”
“You don’t have a son.” Kyle flinched after being attacked with those words. The woman spoke the truth. He did not have a son, but how would she know, and how was she so confident with her remark.
“I’m sorry. I call my nephew my son a lot because he’s so close to me. Even though his mother is a . . . witch.”
“And now you speak badly of witches? Not only are you a liar, but you’re being rather racist toward other cultures.” This shook Kyle. His muscles tensed. Sweat poured from the pores all over his body. His breath slowed down. He swore he could see his own breath, even though it was the almost July. And he did. The air about him became cooler, and he received a horrible chill that upset every nerve in his body.
“Well maim, there’s your package over there by the door. I’m sorry for upsetting you. Have a good day and happy Grutzulski.” Kyle walked past the woman, made it to the other side of her, and stopped. Walking past her, it felt like his soul was touched, mingled with, and torn apart, left to float about in a realm that no man could ever have access to. He did not look at her nor look ahead toward the UPS truck, where Corey was playing with the radio in the driver’s seat. Kyle looked straight down at the porch and saw the same orb that he noticed on the stool engraved into the exposed pale blue paint, not hidden by the red paint. Another chill shook Kyle’s body.
“You too, and happy Grutzulski. Only a proper word like that should be spoken in good times after a horrible experience. I take it that the war affected you personally.”
Kyle still did not face her, but continued to stare at the drawing. “Yes, it scarred me.”
“So you’re not from around these parts?”
“No, I moved here after the third bombing of New York City and before Detroit fell.”
“You were lucky, as your area got hit by the Niktorad-81. Nobody was left alive.”
“I know. I know. Well, have a good one.” Kyle walked off of the porch, looked ahead, and saw Corey smelling his hand. A small smile was drawn across Kyle’s face until . . .
“Take care of your wife!”
Kyle whirled around to face the old crone, who was now wearing black robes and green leather gloves. She also wore heavy boots and a black hat that closely resembled the pointy hat of a witch, raising to a point like a cone. Kyle gasped, then questioned. “What about my wife?”
“Do you think the war is over? You’re being lied to. They’re after your wife. She’s the answer, and war is the question. Sacrifice your blood to save her, and you shall not only save her but also the world, as the world needs help. And to receive help, you give help. If you don’t, you shall face the light.”
Kyle stood there, motionless, and holding his breath. Wide-eyed, he said to the woman. “And who are you to speak in proverbs?”
“I’m your dreams and your nightmares. You saw me the night it happened. You saw me, but the darkness didn’t let you notice me. You saw me as you fled the battlefield. However blood blocked your vision from noticing me. And you saw me here today. Today’s world, recovered from the war like nothing happened. Only it’s still going on.”
Without another word, Kyle turned back around and marched back to the truck, with butterflies of thoughts fluttering throughout his head. He climbed into the vehicle as Corey started up the engine, and the truck slowly moved away from the house. Kyle starred at the house. The house was a pale blue, much like the porch’s former color was. The house had only one floor and only one window, at least on the front anyway. And as Corey started to hum to an Oldies song that began to play on the radio, a startling conclusion struck Kyle. Why would the porch be red if it did not match the rest of the house? And how would it have chipped away so easily when the area rarely gets rain or any extreme elements from nature? Was it really paint? Kyle starred out the window down the street as the truck came to a sudden halt at a stoplight. The porch wasn’t painted red with paint. It was painted red with blood.
…To be continued.
