New Runescape Skill: Construction

I have yet to dive into the new Runescape skill released today called construction (because I have to buy a whip first before anything) but I did buy a house in Rimmington and check the portal out. I quickly got four pictures taken on my laptop. I would've got more but my laptop lags as soon as you take the first picture.

Happy Runescaping!

It's That Time Again

Yay, it's that time of the week again! The time when I, Caitlin, get to write and post my own entry here at Buddy Foote's Blog :) I look forward to this time all week.. and I think I even mention every entry how I feel special writing here ;-) I feel I should always start off too by saying this is me so people just "know" for sure. Let's see what I have to say this week...

Our finals in our elective classes began for the most part this week at the place I like to call school. That means all that stands between me and my summer vacation now are the major class finals. Out of all of them, Geometry is what I fear the most... =/ Ug I won't even get started going into my complaints about my least favorite subject to learn.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, and we have no school. I am enjoying my Memorial Day weekend, and hope you are too. :) I went over to my friend Heather's house after school Friday, and when I came back late that night there was a new hammock hanging between one tree, and a wooden swinging bench on another. They are very cool :) I guess this was an attempt to replace my wooden childhood swingset & slide which was taken down forever that day too. We used to have a hammock when I was real little, but I think this one is new, and anyways it's a lot of fun to go in! My brother discovered that laying sideways, flat on your stomache, while using your hands to push yourself off the ground and forward makes you swing really fast, and add listening to an iPod in there too makes it one really sweet afternoon :P I can't wait to spend a lot of my upcoming lazy, warm, summer, afternoons sitting there under the cool trees, reading a good book, or listening to my iPod, while looking up between the leaves at the clear blue sky with the wind gently brushing against my bare skin. Wow sounds good already, tehe can't wait! :D

I had plenty of fun at my friend's house that Friday night too. I met a new girl, named Karissa, who is 10 years old and goes to a neighboring school district. Not sure if she is related to my friend or not, but she came to hang out with us anyways. She was visting some relatives I guess. She was quite the 10 year old may I add...err hmm... lemme just stop there. xD Later on we went to feed my friend's horse, chickens, dog, cats, and saw the cows and stuff. I love seeing Belle, the horse, whenever I go over. She's sweet and a pretty tan color. We also played with glow sticks, danced in front of a mirror, tried calling Buddy Foote, hid in a closet, checked out a tree hut, ate cake, played pin the tail on the donkey, set up but never played pin the nose on the clown, and talked to her baby cousin Colby who only seems to like and say whatever Heather does, and when I pretend that she made me cry she looks like she's going to laugh at me, but is cute as a button anyways [; I also left my purse at her house.. which is a very bad thing which I hope does not become a habit.

I also went a few places Saturday but nowhere worth explaining. Wow, if I really want too, I sure can write a lot. I hope that's okay.. it's fun too. Plus makes my entries fit in with Buddy Foote's nice & long ones! Now it is getting late, and I believe Steve is staying over his friend's house tonight, so I should get going myself. One last thing! The layout for this blog has somewhat truly begun! I found some codes, now just to see what I want to make of them [; Have a Happy Memorial Day!

Firemaking

With my obsession to Runescape lately and that 3/4 of the recent posts I have written had some relation to Runescape or even the game's name mentioned in it, you may be thinking that this post has to do with the Runescape skill firemaking, but you are wrong. I'm speaking about the real life skill of firemaking. The memory that sticks out in my mind the most of going to my hunting cabin in the summer last year with my father for a few days is sitting around the open fire roasting marshmellows and cooking plump hotdogs in the darkness while crickets chriped and classic rock music came from the intercom/radio of the cabin. This stay was, I believe, the first time I ever started a successful fire, making it last for a while. While my father was washing his truck with a friend who popped up and stayed with us for a night, he'd have me go and make a fire in a little circular hole in the ground fenced in by cemet blocks underneath some, I believe, apple trees. I did get burnt once or twice lighting a match so that I could then light the paper towel and twigs on fire, but they were only minor burns and I actually enjoyed the pain of getting burnt. Please, do not ask. I think we actually had to use an open fire to cook our food because there was no gas for the grill, and it was not our responsible to go and get some but during a work party some other cabin members should've received another tank. Actually now that I remember, there was a tank in the closet that my father's friend notified him about, but we still stuck to cooking on the fire. Did you ever have a baked potato and steak cooked on an open fire? Well, it's better than on a grill, in my opinion. I also enjoyed burning lemonade and soda cans after I drank and shot holes into them with my .22 rifle (going Splinter Cell style on some cans) and then using the fire stick (which is used to poke the wood in the fire to get the fire going again if it's dying down, but I eventually burnt the fire stick) to morph the hot alumioum cans into weird shapes, stuck the stick into the can, and took it down to the pond and cooled it off. I think I have one of those lying around here somewhere...

Point being: back in the summer at the cabin, the 'fireplace' was my domain, my teritory, my place to be and live and running around the fireplace moving my chair everytime the wind changed its course and blew smoke and ash into my face. And now, I can enjoy this in my own backyard.

How?

Firemaking is illegal in Jermyn, sadly enough. They passed this law when I was young. We used to have these big (I can never think of a word when I need to write it) cans that looked like oil cans in the backyards where you would burn your garbage or wood or stuff that you wouldn't have to throw away; for example, if there's sticks lying around your yard you could pick them up, place them in the burner (that's what they're called -- I just remembered), and then light a fire and watch as they burn. But I guess it was a risk having these in a town, with houses right next to each other and the risk of a huge fire being extremely high. So if firemaking is illegal in Jermyn, how can I enjoy the real life skill in my own backyard?

Open fires are illegal in Jermyn, but if there's a screen on a fireplace outside, then it's okay. And yesterday while my father and I were out getting flowers and vegetables for the garden, we were looking at the fireplaces (something my father was eyeing up since he saw one at Dick's in the early winter last year) at Home Depot, popped down to Lowes (for their low prices, of course), and bought a round fireplace with a little chimney stack. When my father comes home from work, we're going to plant the garden (by the way I bought some jaulpeno [I know, not the correct spelling] pepper plants at the Home Depot), open the pool, and put the fireplace together. Now maybe I can take a break from Runescape and go outside more this summer and enjoy the outdoors near a screened-in fireplace in my hometown of Jermyn.

But I must proclaim that I believe that my pre chemistry teacher was breaking the laws of Jermyn one day. Craig and I were doing something in the alleyway, either playing catch with a football or trying to break a bouncy ball into pieces, or maybe riding our bikes, when he noticed smoke and what appeared to be some flames coming up from underneath a wooden deck by the teacher's swimming pool. Under farther inspection, the fire did not seem to be screened-in and was most likely an open fire. Now if I didn't like my pre chem teacher, I could've raced over to the borough building, got a cop, and brought him over (and with my luck the fire would've been out or it was screened-in and I received a fine), but my teacher is semi-nice to me, so I let her go.

I took some pictures and made a small three-minute clip at a friend's house, Carol, while Craig, Darrin, and Kyle were there, including myself of course, playing a game where you have rackets, a net, and a birdie. Not a ball or otherwise that would be tennis. I know the name of the game but I cannot spell it. It starts with a "b". If somebody would comment here and tell me the correct spelling, I would bow down to you. Well anyway, once I upload those to Imageshack and the video to YouTube (I believe they gave me permission) I'll post them here. Also I found a new picture-taking mode on my camera that I always needed, close-up mode! Oh, God was I excited when I discovered that. I took some nice pictures, plus you could even read writing on paper, for example -- my homework, with this mode. Maybe I'll have a new daily feature on here showing two to four pictures of notes and homework I did that day. Why? Maybe for the adults out there who're in their early 50's and want to see what school is like nowadays. Now if there's anybody in their early 50's reading this right now, I would have to bow down to them. Wow, I bow down to a lot of people...

Now I must leave you, but nevertheless let the force be with you. That was sad.

I'm Back On the SAPI

I'm back on my good ol' SAPI (San Andreas Paranormal Investigators). I was talking to Unleased in Runescape just around eight before (who is playing the game again) and I thought, "Hey, why not stop by for old times sake to post." Well, I'm back. I advise that you go there and check out the forums and maybe join. I went there everyday seeing if anything new was going on, but besides of a new red skin, the place was dead. But with Unleased and me around, it'll be alive again. Just wish Drake would go back there. Plus I wish I was an admin. Then I'd add some mods like an arcade and Java-based chat room. I put up a new debate in my debating forum also on Area 51.

Link to the SAPI.

Finals are here (my speech one is tomorrow, oh God) so I may be absent from here. Actually I didn't expect to post anything today but SAPI popped up and you know, I had to post my reunion with it. Shit, I should be in bed now.

Have a good day.

Addicted to Slaying

After logging in every once in a while onto Runescape lately, I'd just fight a few baby blue dragons for their bones until my lobster supply ran out, then I'd teleport to Falador and restock then resume the process (with the most annoying part being the walk back to the blue dragon lair in the Talvery Dungeon). This would get boring and tedious after a while and I'd wind up reading some topics on Runescape Community or browse through RuneHQ. I tried studying and doing homework while playing Runescape in the past but I'd read two words, look up at the screen, play for five minutes, pick up the homework I dropped on the ground and read another two words, and so and so. Point being, the task of killing the same monster over and over again become boring after a while, even though I developed a stragety or two to get the baby blue dragons to myself in a certain area (a process of having the people killing dragons in one area migrate to another to leave me along).

Today, after I got my prayer level to where I wanted it to be, I left the baby blue dragon lair (finally) and went into step two of my plan for world domination. This step being the following: Get my attack to 70 while doing slayer tasks. And boy, was it working out at first. I filled 3/4 of my inventory with lobsters, took one law, three airs, and one fire rune, and headed east toward Canfsis and its slayer master; the red hooded thing with a tail. Oh yes, and my slayer gem I brought along. The walk is a long one, from the fountain in Varrock to the slayer master. I wouldn't mind it if you could just walk straight east and get there, but no, you have to go into that dungeon that was used in the Priest in Peril quest which has its winding passages at the beginning. But once you go through the holy barriar by the monk you have to say, it's a nice and lovely stroll through lovely Morytania with it's dead trees, horrible odors from the bubbly swamps, and the big level eighty-eight werewolves that hover around the area. I wish my agility was high, I really do. I could save the walk to the blue dragons by squeezing through the pipe in the Talvery Dungeon and I could squeeze through the fence behind the church to get access to Morytania without going through the dungeon.

Anyway, I did slayer for quite a while today. I woke up around eight thirty this morning playing the game and stopped around six in the evening. I say that's quite a day of playing. My first slayer task was to kill vampires (I do not remember the exact amount and probably never will). Even after asking Craig who had this task before, I still couldn't find the darn vampires. Finally when he hinted to me that they were by Frenkenstein's Castle (Runescape spells the name differently to avoid any lawsuits and I'm not even sure if I spelt Jagex's version correctly), I traveled south into the Haunted Woods and found the vicious beings. They were quite easy. They'd do eight or seven hits to me at the most, but with me doing fiftheen's to them commonly, they were no match for me and my dragon longsword. I finished that task and moved on to others. In total, I got three vampire, three banshee, one rockslug, one cave crawler, and one skeleton tasks. I believe that was all of them, but my last one I received was to kill eleven cave slimes. Well, that's a small number and even though they're poisionous, I had to kill fifty-some cave crawlers and they're poisionout (I was posioned about five times). The problem is that they're in the Lumbridge Swamp Slayer Dungeon. Why is that bad? I was going to kill rockslugs down in there before I learned I was looking at the wrong map on RuneHQ, so I teleported to Lumbridge, used the agility shortcut by the graveyard, and ran down to a 'deep hope' in the ground when it said I needed a rope. I go to the bank in Draynor and realize I do not have a rope. I then check the general stores in Lumbridge and Varrock and find out that they don't have ropes. So I teleport to Camelot and walk down to Caterby's general store to buy a rope, and then had one. I thought a rope would cost less than 10 gp, so I had 11 gp on me. The rope turned out to be 25 gp. I was so desperate to just get the rope already that I sold a lobster for 60 gp and bought the rope, even though the bank was but one space away.

After getting the rope, I teleport back to Lumbridge and ran back to the hole in the ground. I use the rope with the hole and I'm able to climb down it. Great, finally! I go to climb down it and learn that I need a light source. There was a candle salesman right next to me selling lit candles for 1,000 gp each, so I ran to my bank, getting 1k gp and a tinderbox, and come back. I buy the candle and enter the dark hole. Bam, not even a second in there and a hand from inside the wall comes out and grabs me, inflicting twelve hits to me. I get past it (I learned later on after looking at the right map on tip.it that I needed a spiny helmet) and ran north-east thinking that I'm looking at the right map but I was looking at the Femmy Slayer Dungeon map. I remember seeing a cave slime when all of a sudden I'm damaged and my candle goes out, exploding in my face. I teleported out of there faster than I ever teleported out of somewhere before. I learned later on that light sources that are more opened up to the swamp gases explode than ones that aren't opened up at all, for example the bullseye lattern. Being that my stats in those skills are too low to make the lattern and light it, I'll just have to wait to go back into the Lumbridge Slayer Dungeon to kill those 11 cave slimes. Instead, I started the Frenkenstein quest and went down into the experiment tomb, killing those with their 100 HP. I'm just going to get my attack to 70 now without doing slayer as a side effect.

I probably left out a lot in there affecting most of the story, but these long entries are the reason I got writer's block in the past.

My bank is getting filled up in the game, espically after doing some slayer tasks. I'm going to have to throw some stuff away (like my full bronze that I had saved for Caitlin before I could make full iron without the plate) and sell some stuff (like the purple gloves I got from killing crawling hands. Oh yes, I got one crawling hand slayer task today also.) I must say banshees had the best drops for me, besides vampires dropped death runes (2). The banshees dropped a lot of herbs but also 13 noted pure essence, something I'll be needing in the near future. I would get around 130 noted pure essence a trip on them. Craig says that Harpie bug swarms have good drops too, so when my slayer is 35 (?) I'll have to go to Karmajia Island and kill some.

Imust also include this or my sister may get angry at me. I slept up her and her husband's house Friday night after a big hiatus from doing so. We watched "The Ring 2" that night, but I only saw some of it because I fell asleep on the couch. I must say, those were huge bucks, and if you saw the movie, you'll know what I mean. Honest to God, those were the fakest animated things I ever saw in my life. If you're going to put something into a movie big enough to be a sequal, then please make it look real. With today's technology in 3D animation, one could do just that.

It's getting rather late, but I have a lot of pictures to post to finish up this entry with. So enjoy:

These pictures were taken three Saturdays ago after Corey, Craig, and Shawn came over my house to work on their pre chemistry project (as in the questions for their motor.)

These pictures were just some of the many (and when I say many I mean a large, large amount) of the good pictures that Craig took on the way and after our visit to The Old Country Buffet three Saturdays ago on the same day. I took one of the ones I'm showing (the guy loading some boxes into his van.)

(Like I said, there's many more and you may see some more in the future, such as Craig's famous driver pictures.)

These following pictures are on the way home from my nephews's tee-ball practice from last Saturday. (All these pictures seem to have been taken on a Saturday.)

This is the picture of "the bird" in the film that you can view on this site called "Untitled" Part 2.

These are pictures from my Runescape gameplay from today:

Have a good day.

[UPDATED on May 27th, 2006]: Made a correction that my sister informed me about; it's not my cousin's tee-ball practice but my nephew's tee-ball practice.

Uno, Dos, Tres... Perfecto

Hola! Como estas? ... Me? Muy bien, gracias! :)

...

Yes, I have conversations in foreign languages with myself when I am bored xD Hah just kidding. :P It's me Caitlin, to state the obvious because who else would start a blog entry in such a weird way? Eh, I don't know, but it's fun to try to be creative! I have a feeling this is going to be a fun entry, so I warn you ahead of time this entry will be weird near the end..

As you've probably read, I am helping with the making of a new layout for this blog. It's going to be fantastic! Just you wait & see :) I planned on starting this banner today, but because I fell behind on starting my final speech for school I didn't have time. I feel really bad about being so slow and wasting time doing other pointless things..so I plan on making it up to Steve. HmMmmMm ;-)

This past week after school I got to play Runescape for real this time, like I actually felt I was truly playing it more this time around. My computer was having a lot of problems the last time I tried to start playing. It would freeze up a lot, but it was like magic how much better it worked for me this week! Sure, it still logged me off and froze maybe once, and I felt like I couldn't see sometimes, but it was great nonetheless. I just started playing really..and it's a lot of fun! I get to follow Steve's character around a lot at times, and personally, that's the best because I just sit and watch wherever he takes me. That is also the point where I feel most safe. I have had some scary death experiences in that game, to cause me to get really nervous over being left alone haha :P Poor me. Anyways, this week I chopped down my first couple trees! That was fun, but I didn't wander off much so I kept going back and forth between these 3 trees waiting for them to grow back. I also practiced going into the bank. Later on, I killed rats! The first set of them was outside, and I was worried I'd mess up or do something wrong so my brother came in and went crazy killing and clicking things for me. That was okay though, I guess, because later when I was taken down into some cave thing, I was on my own and even literally alone for some mintues killing the baby rats. I even killed a big one once, and I am so proud of myself. This isn't all though, I completed my first quest as well!! It was the one where I had to fetch some milk, flour, and egg. Actually, I give half the credit to Steve because he helped guide me in the right direction. Most of the time, even if I have an idea of what to click to make it work or whatever it may be, I have too many doubts so I don't click anything and stand there until Steve tells me what to do. It probably annoys him, but he's being really nice, more than nice, with helping me play and it's well worth it because I highly enjoy the game! Thanks Stephen :) I can't wait to play again :D

My goal is to try to write my own Buddy Foote's Blog entry at least 1 time a week. I love being able to write here, I feel so special. I like this goal too, because I get to add my own touch, ideas, & thoughts to things. But if for some reason Stephen didn't write for a while and I had time, then maybe I'd write more than once a week in order to keep the page fresh with new stuff for people to see & read. Sound good? I think so. :)

At the moment, I can't think of any particular event that happened in my personal life this past week worth writing about, so I have a small story to share. Oh wait! Actually I do have a detail first. I can sing along to Spanish songs! It is so much fun, that its unbelieveable! If your learning Spanish, and want to have some fun, I recommend singing along to Spanish songs! Yes, I am probably the weirdest girl you ever met lol but it is terribly fun! Okay, you have to find a Spanish song. I found one that is all Spanish, called "La Tortura" by Shakira [it's on my iPod] and looked up the lyrics online. Then you play the song, and follow along and you gotta dance while your dog sits and watches you. Afterwards, you will feel so good about yourself if your able to keep up with how fast they speak that you will reply it over and over. Plus this is educational because you recognize words you know. Go try it for yourself ;)

Haha now to this short, funny, nonsense story I told to Stephen last week in one of our Google Talk conversations. It's alright with him if I post it. It is very very very very pointless, and makes zero sense, but hey it's content ;) Oh, and note that this is a true story! This happened to me last week at school, but I combined it all in one giant mash. Haha see how weird friends at school are to me? ...

"Once upon a time exactly 1 day ago Ybba Liav gives me yard sale items from the free junk box and shoves it in my locker with the help of a boy named Fot who tells stories to Cri-ag in Math that I go to his house with a gasmask to steal stuff & kill his neighbors dog which causes Cri-ag & I to think he is one crazy kid....now then that girl named Ybba hands the yard sale free junk box item [which was a karate belt thingy that was ugly and looked like it came from a 4yr olds halloween costume] through the bus window saying I "dropped it" and really really want it back [which embarrasses me] to make sure I get it when I threw it at her causing me to jam my pinky later on through the hole that is used to shove things through Fot's side to mine..which is how that belt got in there even though Fot denies it with a huge smile."

The end.

Conversation With Hesser: Wii, Spore, Violent Games

Conversation with Hesser on May 20th, 2006

LakelandHm [3:47 PM]: Hello.
Norwegian Yah [3:47 PM]: Hiya
LakelandHm [3:47 PM]: Do you think it's strange that I'm starting to have dreams about the Nintendo Wii?
Norwegian Yah [3:48 PM]: Sorta. Maybe.
LakelandHm [3:49 PM]: I want the console so badly...
Norwegian Yah [3:49 PM]: While I must admit I'm looking forward to the Wii, the one game I'm really looking forward to is Spore, for the PC
LakelandHm [3:50 PM]: I wish my PC was powerful enough for Spore. I'll have to get Spore on the Wii.
Norwegian Yah [3:50 PM]: I saw a 40 minute video of it being played, then Robin Williams creating a creature, I totally can't wait for that
LakelandHm [3:50 PM]: Spore would be too overwhelming for me
LakelandHm [3:51 PM]: I wouldn't know what to make
Norwegian Yah [3:51 PM]: I already have basic plans of what I want to make
LakelandHm [3:52 PM]: And what would those be?
Norwegian Yah [3:52 PM]: i'm thinking something small and weak and peaceful. And see how long that will last
LakelandHm [3:52 PM]: I'm thinking of something that devours it's prey alive and whole.
LakelandHm [3:53 PM]: If that's possible
Norwegian Yah [3:54 PM]: Not sure if it can do it in like, one bite. That would sort of make it super powerful. But I don't know that for a fact.
LakelandHm [3:54 PM]: I bet you'd like to blow up other's planets
LakelandHm [3:55 PM]: I think that's stupid. You work for hours on a planet and then somebody can come and blow it up...
Norwegian Yah [3:55 PM]: Well, a human player can't actually attack you
Norwegian Yah [3:55 PM]: The computer just copies the playing styles of all the players of Spore
Norwegian Yah [3:56 PM]: then it uses their creatures and planets in the game
Norwegian Yah [3:56 PM]: So you can blow up a planet that had a players creatures on it, but it wouldn't afffect their particular game
Norwegian Yah [3:56 PM]: On the contrary, if you do get attacked by a computer opponent, you would have a good army.
Norwegian Yah [3:56 PM]: Because the computer will go with your "difficulty level" depending how you play
LakelandHm [3:57 PM]: So that's the whole 'smart code'?
Norwegian Yah [3:57 PM]: If you're weak and want to focus on culture and science and not war, then you won't be bombared by attacks.
Norwegian Yah [3:57 PM]: Yeah
LakelandHm [3:57 PM]: Now that IS very smart AI
LakelandHm [3:57 PM]: Imagine The Sims 3 or Sim City 5
LakelandHm [3:58 PM]: They'll probably put that code in those games
LakelandHm [3:58 PM]: For some usage in the improvement of AI
Norwegian Yah [3:58 PM]: Yeah. But still, those games won't have the vast exploration Spore will have
LakelandHm [3:58 PM]: As of what we know now (which is nothing), that's true
LakelandHm [3:59 PM]: I wish they'd have a 'smart code' similar to that in the GTA series
Norwegian Yah [3:59 PM]: They showed a zoomed out view, which had I'd say, 60 star's on screen. Go to each indiviudal star, theres a solar system with planets you can visit.
Norwegian Yah [4:00 PM]: And then you can zoom out, and there are literally thousands of stars, and millions of planets
Norwegian Yah [4:00 PM]: and it would literallly be impossible for a player to explore every single planet
LakelandHm [4:00 PM]: There's a new game coming out for the PS3 (?) similar to GTA but it has better features and you can create your own character, plus improved AI
LakelandHm [4:00 PM]: WOW
LakelandHm [4:00 PM]: I really want that game now. Darn you, now I'll be dreaming about Spore.
Norwegian Yah [4:01 PM]: And the best part is, each planet is unique. Nothing will be the same, no creatures will be the same(unless of course, the colonize another planet and you find them there)
LakelandHm [4:02 PM]: I really want the Wii though. I was never hyped up about a video game console like this before. Normally it's, "Hey, look at those graphics that system can promise! I want that!" But in this case, it's the innovative new gameplay
LakelandHm [4:02 PM]: Spore looks amazing, really
LakelandHm [4:03 PM]: But could you imagine the system specs your computer would need?
Norwegian Yah [4:03 PM]: I agree with the Wii. I'm already seeing the "hardcore Playstation" people started to get converted to the Wii side.
Norwegian Yah [4:03 PM]: They actually won't be super great
Norwegian Yah [4:03 PM]: each creature will be only 3 k in size.
LakelandHm [4:04 PM]: Do you think a computer with 528 MB RAM and 100 GB hard drive (with all my stuff included on it) would work?
LakelandHm [4:05 PM]: I mean, games like Doom 3 had a hard time working on computers. I think that was the game...
Norwegian Yah [4:05 PM]: Not sure.
LakelandHm [4:05 PM]: I wish technolgy could convert any file to a smaller size without reducing quality...
Norwegian Yah [4:05 PM]: We'll see when the system requirements get released, eh?
LakelandHm [4:05 PM]: Yep
LakelandHm [4:07 PM]: Did you ever play the Sim City series? (I think we talked about this before but I have long term memory loss.)
Norwegian Yah [4:07 PM]: I played the first two, but not when they started getting good and advanced.
LakelandHm [4:08 PM]: SimCity 4 with the expansion pack is amazing
LakelandHm [4:08 PM]: I downloaded it off of Limewire and it works like a dream
Norwegian Yah [4:08 PM]: I'm downloading a Sim 2 Torrent.
Norwegian Yah [4:08 PM]: I always wanted to play that
Norwegian Yah [4:08 PM]: 15 hours to go..
LakelandHm [4:09 PM]: I want to play Sims 2 too
LakelandHm [4:09 PM]: Torrents take forever on my computer
LakelandHm [4:10 PM]: San Andreas took about a week without turning my computer off at night
Norwegian Yah [4:10 PM]: They go fairly fast on mine. I started last night at about 8.
LakelandHm [4:11 PM]: I always had to come up with an excuse to give to my father to not turn the computer off. For example, I'd leave a wordpad window up saying that there's a big virus scan going on or adware scan
LakelandHm [4:11 PM]: It worked, until the fifth day or so
LakelandHm [4:13 PM]: Can I ask you your personal imput on a somewhat controlversal topic that I have to write a speech final on, which is due Tuesday, and I have nothing written down yet?
Norwegian Yah [4:13 PM]: Computers should always be left on, unless theres a violent thunderstorm.
Norwegian Yah [4:13 PM]: alright.
LakelandHm [4:13 PM]: My father thinks that when computers are left on at night that they're more vulnerable to viruses
LakelandHm [4:13 PM]: Anyway...
LakelandHm [4:14 PM]: Do you think violent video games cause people to become violent?
Norwegian Yah [4:14 PM]: no
LakelandHm [4:14 PM]: And why?
Norwegian Yah [4:16 PM]: Well, I saw a graph once that charted youth violence now, when violent video games are common, and youth violence in the 50's, then there were none, and the 50's was much bigger than modern times.
LakelandHm [4:16 PM]: I saw something similar once
LakelandHm [4:16 PM]: Well, here's my two main points
LakelandHm [4:18 PM]: One, video games act as a stress reliever of some sort. Remember those old stress balls you used to squeeze? Well, video games are sort of the same thing. You can take your stress or anger out on jumping on a Goomba's head or blowing some guys head off besides taking it out on somebody else in the household or a friend.
LakelandHm [4:18 PM]: Agree?
Norwegian Yah [4:18 PM]: Yep
LakelandHm [4:18 PM]: Have anything else to add concerning that one point?
Norwegian Yah [4:19 PM]: Not really.
LakelandHm [4:20 PM]: But do you think it's good enough as a point supporting that violent games do not cause violence?
LakelandHm [4:20 PM]: Even though I have another
Norwegian Yah [4:20 PM]: Well, I think you need some points, so you should go for it
Norwegian Yah [4:21 PM]: It's not like your debating.
LakelandHm [4:21 PM]: But isn't that a vivid point by itself?
LakelandHm [4:21 PM]: We only need two main points
Norwegian Yah [4:21 PM]: Well, whats the other
LakelandHm [4:24 PM]: Second, what's the different between watching a death on TV and watching a death on a video game? Anti-game persons say that you have the option to shoot that guy, killing him, because you're interacting with the game whereas when you see it on TV, you're just watching. Well, no matter what, it's the same context. If you play the game you may not choose to shoot a guy. Because you play, say GTA, does that mean that you're going to run around chopping people up with a chainsaw? No. Continued...
LakelandHm [4:24 PM]: You can cruise around the desert on a motor bike, you can parachute off of a mountain, etc.
Norwegian Yah [4:25 PM]: But the main point of a lot of games is to kill people.
Norwegian Yah [4:25 PM]: You can't get far in GTA without killing people
LakelandHm [4:26 PM]: Unless you have mental problems or you're already involved in violence, then I doubt you're going to be influenced by a video game, looking at it as a murder simulator.
Norwegian Yah [4:26 PM]: Right
LakelandHm [4:27 PM]: They have a better chance seeing how a murder killed somebody on TV so cleverly on a detective show than on a video game, sniping from a rooftop
LakelandHm [4:27 PM]: *murderer
Norwegian Yah [4:27 PM]: Good point.
Norwegian Yah [4:28 PM]: which in turn, would make them more knowledgeable on how to kill someone and get away with it
LakelandHm [4:28 PM]: Also most violence in video games is fantasy related, besides the urban games like San Andreas
LakelandHm [4:29 PM]: Yes, because if you need a detective to solve a case, then the murder must've been played/planned out pretty well
LakelandHm [4:29 PM]: Even watching the news can give them some idea!
LakelandHm [4:30 PM]: Arson in Scranton! Well, that's reality. Reality influences people more than non-reality things. Well you be more influenced by a real guy or a fake guy on a video game?
LakelandHm [4:30 PM]: *Will you
Norwegian Yah [4:30 PM]: Real!
LakelandHm [4:31 PM]: Of course!
LakelandHm [4:31 PM]: Wow...I got about three points
Norwegian Yah [4:31 PM]: you're se
Norwegian Yah [4:31 PM]: t
LakelandHm [4:32 PM]: I am
Norwegian Yah [4:32 PM]: I must now start working on a powerpoint
LakelandHm [4:33 PM]: But it has to be one to two minutes, and that of course includes the introduction and the conclusion...
LakelandHm [4:33 PM]: On what?
Norwegian Yah [4:33 PM]: Middle Ages
LakelandHm [4:33 PM]: For what class?
Norwegian Yah [4:33 PM]: World Cultures
LakelandHm [4:34 PM]: Make sure you include dragons.
LakelandHm [4:34 PM]: And their folklores of them
Norwegian Yah [4:35 PM]: This is supposed to be serious and it will double as a senior project
LakelandHm [4:36 PM]: Yes but wasn't folk tales of dragons and the whatnot popular in those times?
LakelandHm [4:36 PM]: How does it double as a senior project?
Norwegian Yah [4:36 PM]: Not sure, but Morcom told us to do a good job on it, because then we'll be done with our senior project
LakelandHm [4:36 PM]: You can do a senior project on the Middle Ages? O.o
Norwegian Yah [4:37 PM]: and while yes, dragons were in folklore, this is supposed to be facts and the history of what happened
LakelandHm [4:37 PM]: I thought projects had to be stuff like ice cream sales or volleyball tornuments
Norwegian Yah [4:38 PM]: I don't know.
Norwegian Yah [4:38 PM]: I just know what Morcom told us
LakelandHm [4:39 PM]: Isn't it fact that the people of that time told tales of dragons?
Norwegian Yah [4:40 PM]: Yes.
Norwegian Yah [4:40 PM]: But it wouldn't make sense to talk about dragons
Norwegian Yah [4:41 PM]: It would be like
500's, middle ages began with fall ofrome
High middle ages- relgion rules
OH! DRAGONS!
Late middle ages-, yada yada
Norwegian Yah [4:41 PM]: it wouldn't make sense
LakelandHm [4:41 PM]: Yes, it wouldn't
LakelandHm [4:43 PM]: This is a little off-topic but could you go to jail if I happened to make the $100 needed to get a check for the ads on my site and they take income tax out and because I'm too young to file income tax and...?
LakelandHm [4:44 PM]: Well, could I go to jail
Norwegian Yah [4:44 PM]: No idea at all
Norwegian Yah [4:44 PM]: maybe?
Norwegian Yah [4:44 PM]: Well, I doubt jail
LakelandHm [4:44 PM]: Hopefully I'll be 18 before I ever reach that milestone
LakelandHm [4:46 PM]: Darn, I need to think up an introduction...
Norwegian Yah [4:46 PM]: I hate working.
LakelandHm [4:47 PM]: You aren't too specific
LakelandHm [4:48 PM]: As in school work or job work?
Norwegian Yah [4:48 PM]: Both.
LakelandHm [4:48 PM]: Or thinking logically work?
Norwegian Yah [4:48 PM]: Work that I don't like doing
LakelandHm [4:48 PM]: I agree
LakelandHm [4:48 PM]: I'd rather sit here and talk about Wii, Spore, etc. than write a speech
LakelandHm [4:49 PM]: And the downfall of Sony
LakelandHm [4:49 PM]: Heh, Sony's doing the Sega. Didn't one of their consoles right before the Dreamcast cost about $700?
Norwegian Yah [4:49 PM]: Yeah
Norwegian Yah [4:50 PM]: Although, I doubt Sony will die
Norwegian Yah [4:50 PM]: They make loads of money of electronics
Norwegian Yah [4:50 PM]: and Microsoft is really safe
LakelandHm [4:50 PM]: That's the thing! Microsoft and Sony have other products to back them up! Nintendo has their games, consoles, accesories, and Pokemon trading cards
LakelandHm [4:52 PM]: That could've been a whole other speech.
Norwegian Yah [4:52 PM]: It could hae
LakelandHm [4:52 PM]: Plus Nintendo's doing pretty good just having their games.
LakelandHm [4:53 PM]: The DS has better sales than the PSP
LakelandHm [4:53 PM]: Same will go for Wii
LakelandHm [4:54 PM]: See, people probably see me, and maybe you, as Nintendo fanboys. Well, I'm not really a fanboy. I just see Sony's system being too expensive and a rip-off (the guy who made it said he was doing us a favor having the price as low as it is!) and I thought the Xbox controller was always too complicated for me
Norwegian Yah [4:55 PM]: Personally, I've been a long time supporter of the PC
Norwegian Yah [4:55 PM]: I prefer the customization you get
LakelandHm [4:56 PM]: Well, I'm talking console-wise. You can argue that the PC is a console though...
Norwegian Yah [4:57 PM]: You could. And I support it
LakelandHm [4:58 PM]: I like the PC too then. I spend my life on it.
Norwegian Yah [4:58 PM]: Well, I'm talking PC Games
Norwegian Yah [4:58 PM]: I think they're better than console games the majority of the time
Norwegian Yah [4:59 PM]: Although now the Wii will have something the PC can't do, with the controller.
Norwegian Yah [4:59 PM]: You know what was funny?
LakelandHm [5:00 PM]: PC is the best FPS console
LakelandHm [5:00 PM]: What?
Norwegian Yah [5:00 PM]: I was talking to Jordan Hine the other day, and he was all like "The PS3 will have better sales, everyone wants to get one" so then I started showing him polls on various gaming sites, that showed how many people were chooisng the Wii over the PS3.
Norwegian Yah [5:00 PM]: Then I showed him a video of E3, where it took a guy 3 minutes to walk from the end of the Wii line(where people got to play it) to the beginning
LakelandHm [5:00 PM]: 63% or more
Norwegian Yah [5:00 PM]: whcih would equal a couple hours standing in line waiting.
Norwegian Yah [5:01 PM]: Then I showed another video of them openign the doors at E3, and a whole bunch of people running right toward the Wii set up...and right past Sony's PS3 set up
LakelandHm [5:01 PM]: I heard the wait was the longest in E3 history
Norwegian Yah [5:01 PM]: I wouldn't be surprised. It looked huge. It kept goign adn going and going
LakelandHm [5:02 PM]: Joystiq had a post showing the last guy in line -- the "unlucky soul"
Norwegian Yah [5:03 PM]: Would suck royally to be him
LakelandHm [5:03 PM]: He was too ashmed to give his name
Norwegian Yah [5:03 PM]: heh
Norwegian Yah [5:03 PM]: Wonder if he got to play it
LakelandHm [5:03 PM]: I hope -- it was the last day
LakelandHm [5:04 PM]: I had a dream that the Wii was out and world peace occured
Norwegian Yah [5:04 PM]: I doubt that will happen
LakelandHm [5:05 PM]: My favorite gutarist has a new band "Angels and Airwaves" and John told me that he said that their new album will bring world peace and will be better than the second coming of Christ
LakelandHm [5:05 PM]: .....
Norwegian Yah [5:06 PM]: I...highly doubt that
LakelandHm [5:06 PM]: I highly doubt it also
LakelandHm [5:07 PM]: Y
Norwegian Yah [5:07 PM]: Isn't the second coming of Christ when we all die?
LakelandHm [5:07 PM]: You can't kid around about that stuff
LakelandHm [5:07 PM]: Yes
Norwegian Yah [5:07 PM]: Ok, then maybe it will be better than the second coming. But I doubt it will be world peace.
LakelandHm [5:08 PM]: Wait...I think that's when Jesus kills the Anti-Christ and a big war between good and evil takes place, but I think all the good people are taken to heaven by then
LakelandHm [5:09 PM]: They had a huge special on the History channel about it one night
Norwegian Yah [5:09 PM]: I hope that happens a long time from now.
LakelandHm [5:09 PM]: People say 2012...
Norwegian Yah [5:09 PM]: And by a long time, I hope that I'd be alive to have the technology to have my brain put into a computer and living on another planet and then it happens here
Norwegian Yah [5:09 PM]: NO
Norwegian Yah [5:10 PM]: 2012 is when the aliens come to earth to colonize the planet
LakelandHm [5:10 PM]: Is that a bad thing?
LakelandHm [5:10 PM]: Well, I hope their 2012 is different than ours
Norwegian Yah [5:11 PM]: CSM: Ten centuries ago the Mayans were so afraid that their calendar stopped on the exact date that my story begins. December 22, the year 2012. The date of the final alien invasion. Mulder can confirm the date. He saw it at Mount Weather ... ...where our own "Secret Government" will be hiding when it all comes down.
(SCULLY looks at MULDER. He doesn't take his eyes off of CSM. CSM has a wild glint in his eye - almost a crazed look.)
MULDER: Yeah, you smile ... feeling drunk with power. The power to do nothing.
CSM: My power comes from telling you. Seeing your powerlessness hearing it. They wanted to kill you, Fox. I protected you all these years ... waiting for this moment ... to see you broken. Afraid.
(MULDER lifts his head and schools his features to reveal nothing.)
CSM: Now you can die.
LakelandHm [5:12 PM]: O.o
Norwegian Yah [5:12 PM]: And before that, actually.
(Back inside the pueblo, CSM takes a drag from his cigarette.)
CSM: It leaves me to tell you what Mulder's afraid to, Agent Scully.
MULDER: Come on, let's go.
(SCULLY doesn't budge,)
CSM: It's a scary story. You want to come sit on my lap?
SCULLY: You don't scare me.
CSM: My story's scared every president since Truman in '47.
MULDER: You don't have to hear this.
SCULLY: No, I want to hear it, Mulder.
Norwegian Yah [5:12 PM]: then we go into that next line
LakelandHm [5:13 PM]: I hope that's false...
Norwegian Yah [5:14 PM]: Everything on the X-Files is true
Norwegian Yah [5:14 PM]: We need another movie to happen though
Norwegian Yah [5:14 PM]: So mulder and scully can combat it
Norwegian Yah [5:14 PM]: and technically, their son, william(who turns 5 today actually) has the ability to stop it.
LakelandHm [5:14 PM]: Today's May 20th
LakelandHm [5:14 PM]: Not the date yesterday
Norwegian Yah [5:15 PM]: Yes
Norwegian Yah [5:15 PM]: Yesterday was the 5th year anniversary the x-files ended
Norwegian Yah [5:15 PM]: and today is William's birthday
LakelandHm [5:16 PM]: I doubt an alien invasion would ever happen
Norwegian Yah [5:16 PM]: It will happen
Norwegian Yah [5:16 PM]: Unless william stops them
LakelandHm [5:16 PM]: The greys?
Norwegian Yah [5:16 PM]: but he can't, cause they put him up for adoption
Norwegian Yah [5:16 PM]: Yes
Norwegian Yah [5:16 PM]: But if William can get reunited with Mulder and Scully, the world can be saved
LakelandHm [5:16 PM]: I meant in reality\\Norwegian Yah [5:17 PM]: Yeah, me too.
LakelandHm [5:17 PM]: I'm confused now
Norwegian Yah [5:17 PM]: We're talking about reality..
LakelandHm [5:19 PM]: My sister and I were watching this Flash thing before which was freaky. It had a sublimial message of this scary as all hell voice saying the Lord's Prayer and 1/4 through it these images pop up and a scream is heard
Norwegian Yah [5:19 PM]: A screamer.
Norwegian Yah [5:19 PM]: I hate those things
LakelandHm [5:20 PM]: Then it says, "Don't trust strange Flash files that talk about weird sublimal messages
Norwegian Yah [5:21 PM]: Trust no one.
LakelandHm [5:21 PM]: I had a feeling that would happen to, and I expected it, so I wasn't as frightened as my sister was
LakelandHm [5:22 PM]: Just that voice scared me, not the screaming part
Norwegian Yah [5:23 PM]: Really quickly, I think I may include dragons in my power point.
Norwegian Yah [5:23 PM]: 1 Intro
2. early middle ages.
3. middle middle ages
4. ending middle ages
5. Post Middle Ages/ Renaissance
6.religion
7. knights
8. peasants
9. merchants
10. mythology
11. Vikings
12. Exit
Norwegian Yah [5:23 PM]: That's how I plan to do it
Norwegian Yah [5:23 PM]: a slide on each one
LakelandHm [5:23 PM]: So in the mythology?
Norwegian Yah [5:24 PM]: Yeah
LakelandHm [5:24 PM]: That's a good outline
LakelandHm [5:26 PM]: Vikings? Never knew they had a relation.
Norwegian Yah [5:26 PM]: Yeah
Norwegian Yah [5:26 PM]: I think I'll actually go and change them with Knights
Norwegian Yah [5:26 PM]: switch the spots
Norwegian Yah [5:26 PM]: cause the vikings were related to religious movement a bit
LakelandHm [5:27 PM]: Yes, knights would go better I think
Norwegian Yah [5:27 PM]: I'm keeping both
LakelandHm [5:27 PM]: Okay
Norwegian Yah [5:28 PM]: But I'm putting Vikings over in the spot that's next to religion
Norwegian Yah [5:28 PM]: because it connects with it
LakelandHm [5:29 PM]: I understand the basics of making a Powerpoint but is it complex at all in any departments?
Norwegian Yah [5:30 PM]: I don't think it is
Norwegian Yah [5:30 PM]: You just choose some stuff and some other stuff and make some stuff
LakelandHm [5:31 PM]: Got'cha
LakelandHm [5:33 PM]: Did you just make the outline or do you have the body of it too?
Norwegian Yah [5:34 PM]: Out line
Norwegian Yah [5:34 PM]: my body is off wikipedia, and picking and choosing info
Norwegian Yah [5:34 PM]: then I just need about 4 sentences for each
LakelandHm [5:35 PM]: I do the same thing with Wik
LakelandHm [5:39 PM]: Well, I'm going to head off
LakelandHm [5:40 PM]: Mind if I blog this?
Norwegian Yah [5:41 PM]: alright
LakelandHm [5:42 PM]: Have a good day.
Norwegian Yah [5:42 PM]: I will

New Layout

I would like to announce that we, Caitlin and I, are working as hard as we can starting from now (and probably picking up work again after the final exams after the next two weeks) on a new layout for this blog, Buddy Foote's Blog v.2. We have created a new offical font style (it's not a font format/type but just the way the letters are typed out or presented), some ideas from looking at other blogs, and also even some affilates or "link to us" small banners that you'll be able to place on your site to link back to us. You should hopefully be familar to that. With the date coming closer to the one year anniversity of Buddy Foote's Blog v.2, it is time for a new make-over. Why? I didn't touch this layout besides adding some links, ads, etc. That's it. No funky pictures. No cool buttons. Nothing. Plus Caitlin knows more than me on web site designing so I'm clueless in that department.

However I'll leak one piece of information out to the public (the one or two who read here) which will be the new offical font to use in ferring to this blog's name in banners and the new, upcoming logo. Here it is.

That banner was created by Caitlin. I was just going to post the text but Blogger replaces the v-like letter with a square box so...I hope that won't cause a problem. I'll have to do research on that.
With final exams coming up, I'll be taking big breaks again on posting in order to study and to do research on my final for speech class which is, no doubt, a speech which is due this Tuesday, and I did no research yet! Shoot...
Our progress on our layout, 3% done.
Have a bad one.
